Assessments: The Elizabeth School District employs a variety of assessments to provide us with a “body of evidence” on each student. Assessment results are used for reporting of school and district performance as accountability measures to our parents and general public.
The Transitional Colorado Assessment (TCAP) is required by state law. The District has regularly outperformed statewide totals in most areas of the TCAP, and demonstrates comparable results to neighboring districts and others with similar demographics.
The District also administers the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) in grades K through 12 in the areas of Reading, Language Usage, Mathematics and Science. MAP is a computerized adaptive test, which dynamically adjusts in difficulty as the student takes the test. MAP is administered in the fall, winter and spring and is used primarily by the teachers to measure student growth over time. When compared to a national norming group of over one million students and more than 750 school districts, the students in the Elizabeth School District perform favorably.
The ACT, at this time is offered to all Juniors (11th graders) throughout the state of Colorado. Students at the Elizabeth School have consistently, over the past six years, performed higher than state and national averages on each of these assessments.
